New Johnny Flynn
Today saw the welcome arrival of a song from Johnny Flynn’s new album Been Listening, which is out in June. I didn’t really connect very well with his Sweet William EP last year, but Kentucky Pill is a strong return to the form which made A Larum such a decent debut album. With added horns. Although very good, his debut didn’t seem to do the sort of business his major label backers may have liked. But thankfully he’s back again, and in a post-Mumford & Sons world, it’ll be interesting to see just how far an attractive banjo-wielding young man can go. Some clues may be found in his current support tour with - guess who?

i enjoy the horns–they’re not at all what i’d expect to fit, but they do quite well!
