Indian summer

We Brits like to talk about the weather. This week the chat has all gone like “isn’t is amazing - it’s the end of October and it’s so warm” and “oh, have you heard, it’s going to be 21C this week”. Especially today as we sat outside and ate lunch. This is all good, not just because we have national stereotypes to live up to, but because it’s late payback for a crap summer. And it’s warm weather and summer that’s in mind when we turn to to an ace song by His Clancyness which is “about the heat and this weird end of July 2009″. Italian summers are better than English ones, and there’s something strange and good going on over there which is helping Jonathan Clancy write these excellent woozy little songs, which often end up sounding like a more lo-fi version of his mate Banjo or Freakout. All good stuff. Now I’d be curious to hear his fuzzed-up melancholy autumn tune.
